FIBREGLASS BATT INSULATION
Fibreglass insulation is made up of extremely tiny glass fibres that when combined together, form a blanket or roll to use in buildings.
Fibreglass is known to slow the spread of heat, cold and sound. This type of insulation is one of the most common in homes today and is relatively inexpensive. Although this is true, this type of insulation can still let in some air.
SPRAY FOAM INSULATION
Spray foam insulation is a form of insulation composed of two materials, polyurethane and isocyanate. These two materials, when combined together, react and form a hardened substance. Both materials come out of the spray foam gun at the same time and harden on the desired area.
There are actually two different kinds of spray foam insulation - open cell and closed cell. Open cell spray foam is less dense and more cost effective than closed-cell but closed-cell acts as an air and vapour barrier while also acting as a thermo insulator.
Because of its ability to expand, it gets into small areas that other insulation cannot which helps prevent air leaks.
FIBREGLASS BLOWN INSULATION
Blown-in insulation is typically made from small particles of fibreglass and what makes it different from batt insulation is the way that it is installed. As seen in the image above, the insulation is physically blown into the space.
This type of insulation is perfect for irregular spaces that are hard to reach because it fits around the homes existing features.
